Citizens United Is the Ultimate Gift that Keeps on Giving

"independent expenditures do not lead to, or create the appearance of, quid pro quo corruption."  -- Justice Anthony Kennedy, deciding vote in Citizens United v. F.E.C.

So you know how the IRS looking into secret money funneling by political groups was just a way for the Demoncrats to put their jack-boots on the necks of God-fearing, conservative, grass-roots organizations?  Yeah, not so much.

In this Nicholas Confessore piece in the Times, a political scandal in Utah illustrates the incredible atmosphere of corruption enabled by the Citizens United decision. In a just world, in addition to Citizens United being overturned as the cancer on our politics that it is, these kinds of revelations should shut up forever all the right-wing talking heads yapping on about the IRS "scandal." It won't, of course.  Poo-flinging monkeys gotta fling poo, after all.
